Godwin M Kaluwe
President


Godwin Mando Kaluwe is President, and Founder of Barotseland Peace Foundation (BAPF), a nonprofit International Organization based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, dedicated in supporting the local poor people of Zambia, especially those in the remote areas. A pilot project has been established in Mongu, Western province. Godwin is an ordained Minister pastoring Capital Fellowship Seventh-Day Adventist church in St. Paul Minnesota, under the Central States Conference (CSC) of Mid-American Union (MAU), in North American Division (NAD). He is also an active member of Adventist Disaster Response (ADR).

Pastor Kaluwe was born and raised at Mwandi-Nyembuluko village, Namushakende Mongu District, from Natandi Mwambwa Lisulo and Prince Edmond Fredrick Kaluwe Yeta III, (1905-1971), the second son of Paramount Chief, Litunga of Barotseland, Litiya Yeta III. (1916-1945). Godwin Mando Kaluwe is a great grandson of King Lubosi Lewanika I. (1842-1916). He attended Liunga Primary school from 1968 and graduated from Kambule Boys Secondary school in 1981. He went to Solusi College in Bulawayo Zimbabwe, where he graduated with a BA in Religion Major and Minor in History 1987. He completed his MA in 1994, the first MA class of Solusi University. That same year he went to Andrews University in Berrien Springs Michigan and graduated in 1998 with a Master of Divinity, MDiv. He did CPE Residence at Park Nicollet Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minneapolis MN., in the year 2000 and also obtained a Certificate in SAP/HR Computer Configuration Info-Type Systems in 2007. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Safety, with special emphasis in Emergency Management at Capella University, MN.

Before coming to the USA, Godwin M Kaluwe was the Project Coordinator for Zambia Union based in Lusaka in 1994. He was the Principal of Zambia Adventist Seminary ZAS, now, Zambia Adventist University ZAU, and presided as Secretary for Rusangu Ministerial Board of Trustees from 1992 until 1994. Before that he was an Associate Professor of Rusangu Ministerial School since 1990. He started working as a Licensed Literature Evangelist in 1981, and became Mongu District Leader upon his return from Solusi College in 1986. He became Kaoma District Leader in 1988, then became Church Ministries Director for West Zambia Field until 1990, when he and his wife Martha Manga accepted a call to Rusangu Mission. But before they left for Andrews University later in 1994, he served as Church Ministries Director for Central Zambia Conference based in Kabwe, with special emphasis in Family Life, Stewardship and Church Development.

Other Activities and leadership experiences in the past include , President of Ministerial Association at Solusi University, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe 1986, President of Zambia Union Club at Andrews University, Berrien Springs Michigan 1995, Chaplain of Eastern Africa Division Club at AU in 1996, Public Relations Officer for Black Students Association at Andrews University Seminary in 1998, and Chaplain of the Association of Zambian Adventists in North America, AZANA-MN, 2006-2009.

Godwin and Martha have been blessed with three children, Lynne Mwambwa Kaluwe, a student at Oakwood University in Hunsville Alabama, Godwin Mando Kaluwe Jr. a high school student at John F Kennedy and Faith Matakala Kaluwe of Valley View Middle in Bloomington MN.

 

 


 
Merlene Ogden, PhD.
Member of the Board of Trustees

Dr. Merlene Ogden is a household name in the Adventist Educational fratenity. She was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, beginning the journey of her denominational career as a teacher at Platte Valley Academy. Her vision for Adventist global educational ministry, dedication to high-quality performance, her innate ability to work under difficult circumstances, her passion for transmitting the best of Adventist higher education to needy areas, her understanding of diverse cultures, and vigorous maintenance of academic standards led Andrews University to appoint her as director of Andrews University Extension Programs in 1991, a position she held until her retirement in 2004.

Even in retirement, Ogden continued to work nearly full time, coordinating AU's affiliations with overseas Adventist colleges, as well as its extension programs, firmly linking AU to many campuses in several divisions of the world church, including Solusi University in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, Helderberg College in South Africa, and University of Eastern Africa, Baraton in Kenya. She joined AU staff then Emmanuel Missionary College (EMC) in 1955. She has been a gifted teacher who became very highly effective groundbreaking adminstrator known world worldwide for her life long devotion to facilitating student academic and spiritual development.

Merlene Ogden graduated from Union College with a BA, English Major, in 1950. She completed her MA in English at the University of Nebraska in 1955. She completed her PhD in English at the same University in 1964, and became Professor of English at Andrews University in 1969. She is the Coauthor of Walden: A Concordance (1985). She directed the Honors Program at AU 1969 to 1993. She served as President of Upper Midwest Honors Council (1985-1986). She became Assistant Dean (1979-1981), and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (1981-1991). She was named Dean of Affiliation and Extension Programs in 1991.

Since 1964, Merlene has led Summer Study Tours that introduced hundreds of students to European Art, Music, and Literature. She has worked with more than 15 International Institutions to develop affiliation and extension programs in every Continent throughout the world. She has received numerous Awards and recognitions of excellence, some of which include; Faculty Teaching Award, AU, 1978; John Nevins Andrews Medallion, 1991;  GC Education Medallion, 2000; Woman of the year, AAW, 2001; Charles E. Weniger Award, 2002, and the Honored  Andrews University Alumni, 2007. It is a great honor to have Dr. Merlene Ogden on the Board of BAPF.
 







 
 Mulope Mutumba, Director
  IT Specialist based in Lusaka, Zambia
 
 
Mutumba Mulope, a gifted IT Specialist, was born and raised in Mongu District, Western Province of Zambia. His accomplishments have given him International recognition. He is currently the e-Business Analyst/Webmaster for the Bank of Zambia (BOZ) in Lusaka, the Capital of Zambia.

Mutumba's professional memberships include being, a Fellow for  International Center for Research and Training in Major Projects Management (FICRTMPM) Canada, Member of the Project Management Institute (MPMI) USA, Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS) UK., and is also involved with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Student. He is a receipient of Certificate of Excellence in Java Programming awarded by Massachusetts Institute of Technology Africa Internet Technology Initiative (MIT-AITI), 2005.

He obtained a BSc. (Hons) Computing from 06/2004-06/2007 at the University of Greenwich UK, and BSc. in Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Zambia in 1989. He has a Project Management for Sustainable Development Certificate from the University of Connectcut, Institute of Public Service International (IPSI) USA, 1994. He also has Programming Certificate, 2005 and an XML Development Certificate, 2007 from the PMDC DATA, Republic of South Africa RSA, as well as a Management Certificate from PMDC Consultancy Services in 2007.

His career started as Management Trainee for Zambia Railways Limited in 1989. He became System Analyst for the same company from 1990 until 1995. As needs arose he was asked to head the Department of Traffic Information System Section at Zambia Railways Computer Center. From 1995 until 1998, Mutumba worked with the University of Zambia where he was assigned a number of challenging tasks, and successfully outdid himself. He later became a member of the Chameleon 2000 Accounting package Team. He transformed the University of Zambia Information Systems in a number of ways, and kept on climbing the ladder of Professional Success until 2003. Then he was given to be Senior Training Consultant in which he conducted training sessions in Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Project 2000, Microsoft Excel 2000, Microsoft Access 2000, Unix, Web page design with Front page 2000, and Internet Explorer. He was also responsible for the development and maintenance of the  University of Zambia Website on Windows 2000 Server platform.

In 2003 Mutumba Mulope's IT accomplishments and experience were recognized nationwide, and he was named Bank of Zambia Web services Senior Soft Engineer. He maintained the Bank of Zambia's Internet website remarkably well. Http://www.boz.zm until 2004, and has since been responsible for the development and implementation of Web Applications as relates to e-Business. He brings unmatched wealthy of experience and much needed IT work ethic to Barotseland Peace Foundation.








Ginger Wange, Minneapolis MN, USA.

Ginger Wange is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, having served in the Kasempa area of the North-Western Province of Zambia Africa, in 2002-2003.  Ginger has over four years of fundraising and development experience for the International NGO, Books For Africa based in St. Paul MN. Her interest in NGO projects is remarkable. Her Board experience includes staffing the development committee at Books For Africa as well as volunteering for the Eshowe South Africa Community Action Group (ECAG) based out of Minneapolis, MN.  A return trip to Zambia in 2006 with her father Mark Wange, to oversee the delivery of over 25,000 books to the Mufulira and Chisamba areas of Zambia, served to further Ginger's commitment to the educational needs of Africa. 

Ginger remains committed to the needs of Zambia and supports a young student from Kaminzekezeke to attend Kasempa Boys Boarding school in order to complete Grade 12.  Ginger has been a progressive student worker with a passion for International service. As a native of Minnesota she graduated from High School in Plymouth MN in 1996. Currently she works in Enrollment Services for Capella University. She has a Bachelors of Science in Business Marketing and Management from The College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN. Barotseland Peace Foundation is blessed to have Ginger's services in the committee.
