Imwiko, Mwanangono

Mwana'ngono Imwiko Lewanika took over after Litia Yeta III, his elder brother's abdication due to illness in 1945.
Imwiko was very highly learned and is remembered for developing Namushakende Munzi wa zwelopili, and also introducing Legislative councils in his government. He was ready to fine tune the paper work necessary to completely free Barotseland from Northern Rhodesia and the colonial government. Unfortunately Imwiko was short lived. In 1947 he received the King of England at the victoria falls in Livingstone. He only ruled for three years and died in 1948.

Imwiko had sons and daughters, such as the late Prince Akashambatwa Imwiko, The current Litunga of Barotseland, Lubosi Imwiko II, Chief Ana'nganga Imwiko of Lukulu, the late Prince Mahela, Princess Aongola, and Princess Mbuyu Imwiko, who is the new Mulena Mukwae of Nalolo.
